Can’t find your specific ERC-20 token? Learn how to add your own tokens within seconds.
MetaMask is fully compatible with all standard ERC-20 tokens as a wallet and browser extension. You’ve probably already uploaded ETH to your new account, looked around MetaMask, and started trading other popular ERC-20 tokens. The more you get into the swing of things, you’ll also want to add custom tokens to your wallet that are related to projects in your niche.
Be careful before adding a token to your MetaMask wallet! Since anyone can create an ERC-20 token, you should only work with trusted projects.
I can’t find my custom token in the drop-down list, what now?
You may have noticed that the list of MetaMask tokens is not an exhaustive one. But don’t worry. You can still add tokens that don’t automatically appear in the search list. This quick guide explains two easy ways to add your tokens to the MetaMask wallet.
Easily add custom tokens to MetaMask wallet from Etherscan
1. Open the application’s browser and go to Etherscan.
2. Search for your token.
3. Scroll down and copy the token contract address.
4. Navigate back to your wallet.
5. Select “Import Tokens”.
6. Click on “Custom Token”.
7. Now paste the token contract address in the adress field. MetaMask will automatically update the “token symbol” and “precision tokens”.
That’s it! The custom token now should appear in your wallet next to the other tokens.
